         Investment diamonds and very very fine diamonds for exceptional gift or collector are only in the range of :

You must understand that gemstones, especially high quality gemstones, that seem to be identical may have a wide range in value.

To be certain about the four C's, the best way is to have the G. I. A./ H.R.D/Gübelin report because they are impartial in the examination of the stone.

You must also be  certain that the report is related to the stone and therefore you need someone independent with a trained eye to view it under 10- power magnification and with  specialized equipment in order to confirm the stone is really the one described by the laboratory, before buying and paying : it is especially true for on line internet offers because if upgraded stone what can you do when you receive it ?

Specialists of the diamond market say 90 % of all jewelers are not transparent at all, because it is easier and more profitable to sell diamond to consumers (who have  no knowledge about the four C's and actual price ranges) without giving too many technical explanations. On the other hand, it is not always easy to tell the jeweler, even with a certificate, you intend to check the stone near a gemmologist before paying which shows no confidence in his integrity. And you must not lose sight of your stone during examination by the gemmologist !

You have to be conscious that you always get what you pay for. Being an international market you can only obtain fair prices, not bargains  ( or there is a trick ) despite all words to convince you otherwise.

Wholesale prices without taxes :

The simplest way to control the right wholesale prices is to call 2 or 3 jewelers of good reputation and ask them for the price they can sell a diamond taken in the Data Base below with the indicated 3 C's and good make for cutting with good or very good proportions ( % Depth and % Table ). ( A friend of yours has given some informations and advises about the characteristics you want for any reason ).

Generally, they will not have it in stock and propose you another one or to ask their wholesaler. Either way, ask the jeweler whether the stone you are interested in has a lab certificate and if it doesn't, ask if he would mind certifying it. You must also indicate that the final sale will be contingent upon the opinion of an independent appraiser : it is the only way to be quite certain about diamonds characteristics that are so important for fair price.

You shall see quickly the prices they offer, (if you are very firm about grades and cutting, lab certificate and appraiser you require), and find the below prices are really wholesale prices.

I generally advise that you to come to Geneva ( Switzerland ), because it is worthwhile even from the U.S.A. , in order to be certain to realize a good, fair and secure deal, to see the stones by yourself, and consult inside the bank an independent gemmologist you choose by yourself and also make acquaintance ( or to send a trustworthy connoisseur or agent ).
